Description
The Rosemount 5402 is Emerson's high-frequency (~26 GHz) member of the Rosemount 5400 Series two-wire non-contacting radar level transmitters. It measures the distance to a liquid, slurry or solids surface using short radar pulses reflected from the product; because the microwave signal never touches the medium, the reading is virtually unaffected by density, dielectric, temperature, pressure or vapour changes, and there are no moving parts to wear or recalibrate. The 26 GHz version produces a narrow radar beam, which makes the 5402 the preferred choice for a broad range of applications and ideal for mounting on valves, taller nozzles, bridles/stilling wells and smaller tank openings. Emerson's dual-port technology and circular polarization suppress echoes from tank walls and internal obstructions, improving reliability and installation flexibility. At reference conditions the 5402 delivers +/-3 mm accuracy with 1 mm repeatability, updates once per second, and reaches up to 115 ft (35 m) from the flange. This particular unit is order code 5402AH1NA33PVCA: high-frequency electronics, polyurethane-covered aluminium dual-compartment housing, 4-20 mA HART (Revision 5) output, 1/2-14 NPT conduit entries, a stainless-steel cone antenna on a raised-face flange, and a Viton (fluoroelastomer) process O-ring. It is loop-powered at 16-42.4 Vdc, carries a Type 4X / IP66 / IP67 enclosure rating, and shipped from Rosemount Singapore in March 2018 with an integral 5-digit LCD display (option M1). The 5400 Series is a proven, now-legacy platform (superseded in Emerson's catalogue by the Rosemount 5408) and remains widely used for storage and buffer tanks, reactor and mixing vessels, and silo/solids level.
