About
Gali Ali Beg waterfall lies in the canyon of the same name, about 130 kilometres northeast of Erbil along the historic Hamilton Road, with a drop usually given as around 12 metres. It is a national icon, having appeared on the old 5-dinar note and on today's 5,000-dinar banknote. Spring and early summer bring its strongest flow and biggest crowds, with canyon-side restaurants serving travellers.
