Visit the storeAvène Cleanance Cleansing Gel comes from Eau Thermale Avène, the French dermatological pharmacy brand. It is formulated for oily, combination and blemish-prone skin, and the 400ml pump bottle is labelled for both face and body.
The gel is soap-free: it works up a gentle lather that lifts away impurities, excess sebum and makeup residue without stripping the skin or leaving it tight, at a physiological pH per the brand's official site. Its formula pairs the patented active Comedoclastin™ — a milk thistle seed extract from Pierre Fabre research — with soothing Avène Thermal Spring Water, helping limit micro-comedone formation, reduce the look of pores and blackheads, and leave skin matte and calm after rinsing.
The bottle itself reads "PURIFIE - MATIFIE" — purifies and mattifies. In the brand's own study on 50 subjects with oily, acne-prone skin (twice daily, face and upper body), 73% of users reported reduced blackheads. Skin and ocular tolerance are rated very good, and it suits contact lens wearers.
